Program Hours

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program includes 100 total instructional hours, combining classroom learning, hands‑on skills lab practice, and supervised clinical experience. This structure ensures students gain both foundational knowledge and real‑world competency.

Schedule Options

SkillLife offers flexible scheduling to support working adults, parents, and individuals balancing multiple responsibilities. Training options include:

  • Day classes

  • Evening classes

  • Weekend classes

1. How long is the CNA program?

SkillLife offers multiple cohort options ranging from 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the schedule you choose.

2. What are the class days and times?

Class schedules vary by cohort. Students may choose day, evening, or hybrid options. Exact dates and times are listed on the Enrollment page.

3. Do I need a high school diploma or GED?

No. A high school diploma or GED is not required to enroll in the CNA program.

4. What documents do I need to enroll?

Students must provide:

  • A valid photo ID

  • Social Security card

  • Proof of required immunizations (if applicable)

  • Any documents required by clinical partners

5. Is there an age requirement?

Yes. Students must be at least 18 years old by the start of clinicals.

6. Do I need a background check?

Yes. All students must pass a background check to participate in clinicals. Clinical sites determine eligibility.

7. What should I wear to class and clinicals?

Students must wear:

  • Scrubs (Burgundy)

  • Closed‑toe, non‑skid shoes

  • A watch with a second hand

Clinical sites may have additional dress code requirements.

8. What do I need to bring to class?

Students should bring:

  • Notebook and pen

  • Skills checklist (provided)

  • Required textbook

  • A positive attitude and readiness to learn

9. Where do clinicals take place?

Clinicals are held at approved long‑term care facilities in the Memphis area. Locations vary based on availability.

10. Is clinical placement guaranteed?

Clinical placement is not guaranteed. Students must meet all clinical site requirements, including background checks, immunizations, attendance, and professionalism.

11. What happens if I miss a class?

Attendance is required. Missing class may delay your progress or result in dismissal, depending on the number of hours missed.

12. Do you help with state testing?

Yes. SkillLife provides guidance on scheduling your state exam and prepares you with the skills needed to test confidently.

13. Will I receive a Certificate of Completion?

Yes. Students who complete all coursework, skills, clinical hours, and financial obligations will receive a Certificate of Completion.

14. Do you offer job placement assistance?

SkillLife provides job‑readiness support and shares employment opportunities, but job placement is not guaranteed.
